The German Moto Grand Prix this year was held at the Sachsenring and the weather was cold and dreary resulting in several crashes in practice. Qualifying resulted in the dominance of Casey Stoner followed by the renewed confidence from injury of Pedrosa and then Lorenzo on the Yamaha. The best Ducati was Hayden in 8th with Rossi in 16th second

The Dutch Grand Prix at Essen is the only GP of the year that takes place on a Saturday. The weather was cold at 13C but better than the practice and qualifying that had been eventful with many crashes among the riders due to the difficult cold and wet conditions.
